20 Oct October food cupboard needs
We were looking at our food cupboard data this morning, and we realized that in the last six months, we provided 11,938 bags of food to families in need! Of course, we can’t give out food without donations from the community, which means YOU…thank you!
As we move into fall, kids are needing healthy snacks and easy microwavable lunches…and everyone is looking for hearty, warming foods. There’s a national trend during COVID for increased interest in baking, and our client families are no different! But they often find that they don’t have the ingredients they need to take a baking mix and turn it into brownies—they need cooking oil, and eggs or dried eggs. So, to guide your donations, here is our October “wish list.”
– chunky hearty soups (no condensed soups)
– canned chili, curbed beef hash
– jelly (no peanut butter)
– pasta sauce
– oatmeal packets, pancake mix
– diced tomatoes, tomato paste, tomato puree
– cooking oil
– flour, sugar
– dried eggs for baking/cooking
– coffee, tea
– canned fruit
– common condiments
– baking mixes
– starchy side dishes, rice, potato flakes
– healthy study snacks for kids, individually wrapped
Please bring items within their expiration dates and unopened, unless packaged individually.
The cupboard is located at 1250 Easton Road, Roslyn (brick building behind Living Word Lutheran Church).
