For more than 40 years, Family Promise Montco PA (formerly Inter-Faith Housing Alliance) has partnered with religious congregations, dedicated volunteers, and generous donors to help Montgomery County families experiencing poverty and homelessness. The services we offer—emergency food relief; emergency, transitional, and supportive housing; and aftercare—help families to preserve their dignity and work toward or maintain self-sufficiency.
The answer, unfortunately, is yes.
The 2023 point-in-time count of homelessness in Montco identified more than 350 individuals sleeping in the County’s emergency shelters, transitional housing sites, or outdoors. And this count does not include “invisible” homelessness—families and children who are temporarily staying in hotels or couch-surfing with friends or family.
Feeding America estimated that in 2021 (the most recent data available) 10,350 children in Montco were not getting enough to eat.
We were recognized in 2014 as a Zone of Peace by the Religious Leaders Council of Greater Philadelphia for our efforts to address root causes of violence: poverty, homelessness, hunger, and family instability. The Eastern Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce recognized us as the 2014 Humanitarian Organization of the Year, an award for organizations that make significant contributions to the community using an innovative approach to service delivery. We were awarded an Upper Dublin Medal for Outstanding Nonprofit in 2020.
In 2022 we changed our name from Inter-Faith Housing Alliance to Family Promise Montco PA.
Family Promise Montco PA partners with the community to address homelessness and hunger — one family at a time.
Since 1982, we’ve been supporting Montgomery County residents when they need it most. From our beginnings as 24-hour emergency resource hotline, we’ve expanded our programs to provide shelter, food, and crucial services to families.
Our experienced staff helps families make real change in their lives. Our dedicated board of directors develop and advance our strategic direction, cultivate relationships in the community, and provide programmatic, fiscal, and legal oversight.
Family Promise Montco PA promotes equity, inclusion, and belonging. Our board and staff recognize the importance of dismantling racism, bias, and discrimination and we are committed to doing more.
Family Promise Montco PA is an affiliate of the national organization Family Promise. Family Promise affiliates throughout the U.S. are working toward a future where every family has a home, a livelihood, and the chance to build a better future together.
