We’re sharing a note

Received last week from one of our graduates, along with OUR thanks to YOU…because without you, our programs would not be possible.

“About 10 years ago, my children and I were residents of the Inter-Faith shelter program and also in the transitional housing program at Hope Gardens. My children, now in their teens, remember the relief when we were accepted into the shelter program and how we were even more ecstatic when we were chosen for the transitional housing.

We were reminiscing yesterday. Being homeless was so scary for us. We remember our host congregations, Gwynedd Friends, Jarrettown Methodist, Upper Dublin Lutheran, Or Hadash. How kind the families were. How accepting. Helping with our children and being a listening ear when the moms I went through the program with were breaking down, thinking it would never get better. The amount of love and support was almost overwhelming.

My kids and I agree that Ambler, Inter-Faith, Hope Gardens, are where a lot of our best memories were made.

Here we are, years later. Of course there have been some trying times. Tough times that I didn’t think I’d be able to get us through. Inter-Faith taught me courage. Taught my boys at a very young age about empathy and sympathy.

We are still on a good path.”

This client got in touch because she and her family wanted to “pay it forward” by donating some items for the shelter and volunteering as a family. Thank you, K, for your kind words. We look forward to seeing you and your family soon!
