Congregation Spotlight: Congregation Beth Or

This Reform synagogue in Maple Glen is a host congregation for our Interfaith Hospitality Network and so much more! Each fall they do a service project and take our families on a group outing to places like a pumpkin patch or to the bowling alley. They sponsor an apartment at Hope Gardens; every time a tenant moves out volunteers from Beth Or refresh the apartment with a deep cleaning and fresh coat of paint as well as filling it with supplies for the new family. Each year they fulfill a family’s holiday wish list. In addition, a group that started through Beth Or has evolved into a family & neighborhood tradition of collecting donations and supplies to put together Thanksgiving baskets for the families we serve, including fresh baked goods and homemade cranberry sauce.

A visit to their website, https://bethor.org, shows their constant and engaged dedication to not only their own worshipers and our local community but to the world at large. From their website:

“We pride ourselves in offering meaningful worship services, creative programs, top-notch educational classes and opportunities for tikkun olam (repairing the world). Whether you are curious about Judaism, returning to Judaism, converting to Judaism, raising Jewish children or sharing Judaism with loved ones as part of an interfaith family, you will find many ways to be inspired by Jewish life at Beth Or… Beth Or is glad to partner with you to make this community reflect your Jewish journey and you will likely find fellow travelers in the process. We feel blessed to share in the journey with you.”

Thank you, Beth Or. We are blessed to be a part of your community!
