Our appeal to you

For more than 30 years, Inter-Faith Housing Alliance has brought the community together to provide shelter, food, and hope for families. Now, we are addressing an epidemic of homelessness and hunger during a viral pandemic.

With your support, we’ve modified our programs. We redesigned our emergency shelter model to ensure that families and volunteers can safety participate. We strengthened academic support for children in our programs as they adapted to virtual learning. And we changed the way that food is distributed at the Inter-Faith Food Cupboard so that participants can safely access enough to eat.

With your support, we distributed nearly 185,000 pounds of food at the Cupboard this year—an 84% increase over last year. We provided more than 2,500 nights of emergency shelter. Before the coronavirus hit, more than 1,100 volunteers contributed nearly 16,000 hours of their time to us—that’s almost two years, 24 hours a day, seven days a week!

We’ve been able to celebrate successes, too, even during the pandemic. Successes like Jocelyn, who came to Inter-Faith with her two children and nothing else—except determination to work hard and faith that she would succeed. In her time with us, Jocelyn worked, earned an associate’s degree, saved money, and is now holding down a part-time job and studying at Temple University. In September, she and her family moved to their own independent apartment.

As COVID-19 presents unprecedented social and economic challenges, low-income families in our area are some of the hardest hit. We want to ensure we can remain responsive to these emerging needs. But we need your help. Will you please renew your support at this critical time and make a gift to Inter-Faith today?

We are grateful for your commitment to helping families when they need it most. Thank you!

With much appreciation,

Marsha Eichelberger
