A Fond Farewell

Community Resource Manager Lauren Kormanik Says Goodbye

On my first day at Inter-Faith Housing Alliance in September 2014, I became part of something bigger than a small nonprofit- I became part of a community of caring. Its physical “office space” may be at 31 S. Spring Garden Street, but Inter-Faith really lives in the congregations that house and serve our families throughout the year, in the clubs and community groups that support us, in the homes of graduate families, and in the hearts of our many volunteers and donors.

It has been just amazing to witness the amount of support and hospitality volunteers provide to our families each month, both in the Network program and in the work and care that goes into turning over and setting up each Hope Gardens apartment. It’s so heartening to see how so many volunteers become advocates for the families we serve by speaking out about services and acknowledging injustices. Each month, I’ve had a chance to hear new stories of service and be re-inspired by the work of our volunteers, many of whom have been involved since the inception of our agency.

To all of our volunteers, board members, and staff: thank you for allowing me to be a part of this inspiring community for the last 2.5+years. Thank you for your service and inspiration. Leaving my role as Community Resource Manager is bittersweet; it has been a true pleasure working alongside each of you, but I am looking forward to my new adventure of motherhood. I know my husband and I are bringing our daughter into a world where there are many communities that continue to demonstrate their love and support of their neighbor. Thank you for welcoming me to yours.

With love,

Lauren

(We’ve all been blessed to know Lauren. This incredible, generous, uncomplaining, and endlessly giving woman has taught us much about how to serve the world effectively and with a smile. We’re better for having known her and will always be grateful for her service. Of course, this sad departure also brings a welcome addition! Read about Sue Zomberg, our new CRM, at left!)
