Strengthening Our Food Rescue Efforts—One Cool Upgrade at a Time
Over the past month, we’ve been focused on improving our storage capacity including refrigeration units, walk-in shelving, and other resources to support food rescue efforts from local stores. These efforts help us better serve our neighbors who visit the Food Pantry in Roslyn.
Thanks to funding from the Department of Environmental Protection and the TEFAP Reach & Resiliency Grant, we were able to purchase and replace seven new refrigerators and freezers. This is exciting progress, as it ensures we have the necessary infrastructure to support food rescue and enhance the Choice Shopping experience for our neighbors. With the addition of thermal blankets and insulated totes, we can now safely transport food from longer distances and accept a wider variety of frozen items.
We were also thrilled to rehome our gently used refrigerators and freezers to two local food pantries, helping expand their capacity to serve the community. We’re incredibly grateful for this opportunity and look forward to all that’s ahead.
Welcoming Giant Willow Grove to Our Retail Rescue Team!
We’re thrilled to announce a new partnership with Giant in Willow Grove, now part of our growing Retail Rescue network! This collaboration brings in an impressive 600–800 pounds of rescued food each week, significantly expanding our ability to offer fresh produce, dairy, and ready-to-make meals to our neighbors.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to our amazing volunteer drivers, whose dedication makes these weekly pickups possible. Your time, energy, and commitment are the driving force behind this mission—and we’re so grateful for you.
Together, we’re reducing food waste and nourishing our community—one rescued meal at a time.
