Lighting Up the Holidays

If you’re looking for a way to give back this holiday season, we’ve got you covered. Keep reading to get the details of how you can support families experiencing homelessness and hunger at Thanksgiving and for Christmas, Hanukkah, and Kwanzaa.

Thanksgiving Food Drive

Each year, the Family Promise Food Pantry provides hundreds of households experiencing food insecurity with everything they need for a delicious Thanksgiving dinner—from stuffing to cranberry sauce to something sweet.

If you’d like to help, please donating the following items by Thursday, November 12th at the Food Pantry. See location and hours on our Food Pantry page. For a printable flyer with an item list, click here.

• Boxed mashed potatoes
• Stuffing (turkey, chicken, cornbread, etc.)
• Mac and cheese
• Gravy (turkey, chicken, beef)
• Broth (chicken, beef, veggie)
• Canned vegetables
• Canned fruit
• Baking items (cornbread, cake mix and icing, flour, etc.)
• Cranberry sauce
• Jam and jelly
• Brown sugar
• Canned meat (chicken, fish, etc.)
• Condiments (ketchup, mustard, mayo, bbq sauce)
• Small spice jars (nutmeg, cinnamon, etc.)
• Whole frozen turkeys
• Brown paper bags
• Giant gift cards with activation receipts ($20-$25)

Holiday Giving Program

Every year, our holiday giving program makes the season a little brighter for families in our programs—thanks to you. Read about the program below, and use the sign up button if you’d like to learn more about being a holiday sponsor.

Family Sponsorships

Our holiday giving program matches individual, corporate, and congregation donors with families in our emergency shelter and at Hope Gardens, Hope Forest, and Hope on Fifth, along with recent graduates of our housing programs. Donors choose a family to support and purchase gift cards from a wish list, allowing parents to choose gifts for their children and helping them stay within budget during a very expensive time of year.

In 2025 the program supported 54 families—that’s 193 people, including 130 children!

General Sponsorships

We also collect items that will help us support families all year long! Items can be purchased from an Amazon wish list and sent directly to our offices.
