16 Sep Advocating for Hunger Action Month
Hunger Action Month is a nationwide campaign held every September. During this time, the Feeding America network and the public unite to raise awareness and inspire action to support our neighbors facing food insecurity. For many of those we serve, a daily meal isn’t about choosing between different dishes—it’s about choosing between food and other essential needs like medical care, electricity, or childcare.
How can you help?
Donate. To see a list of the items we’re always collecting, please visit our website. We accept monetary donations too, which are very helpful for purchases of fresh foods like milk and to fill in any gaps in our shelves.
Our Food Pantry is located at 2801 Woodland Road, Roslyn, on the campus of Salem Baptist Church. Donations of food and other items are accepted on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from 10 am to 1 pm. Please ensure that all items have labels, are within the expiration date, and are properly sealed. Food distribution occurs on Mondays from 5:30 to 7:30 pm and on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from 10 am to 1 pm. Contact the pantry at 267.318.0607 or food@fpmontco.org
Volunteer. Email food@fpmontco.org or call 267.318.0607 to find out more.
Advocate. Contact your state and federal legislators to let them know that you support programs to ensure that children and families get the food they need. Or sign the Feeding America petition for robust anti-hunger programs like TEFAP and SNAP in the proposed 2024 Farm Bill currently under discussion.
As always, we thank you for partnering with us to provide food, personal care items, and household supplies to our Montgomery County neighbors in need.
Together, collective efforts can make a real impact on tackling food insecurity. Whether it’s through raising awareness, donating, or advocating for change, every contribution counts.
