21 Oct Faith, Service, and Community
Family Promise was honored to participate in the Sukkot service at Or Hadash. As part of the celebration, congregation members packed 219 meals containing pasta, mixed vegetables, and bread for Caring for Friends to distribute to neighbors experiencing food insecurity. The event was a wonderful example of community members coming together to support those in need.
Following the meal packing project, representatives from Caring for Friends and Family Promise shared information about their work in the community. Jennifer H., Or Hadash’s Interfaith Hospitality Network (IHN) Coordinator, highlighted ways congregation members can get involved, and Sue D., IHN Coordinator at Jarrettown United Methodist Church, shared a letter from a former family whose life was impacted by the IHN. As a Buddy Congregation, Or Hadash plays an important role in supporting families during IHN hosting weeks and helping families on their journey toward stability.
