09 Oct VNA Offers Support to Navigate SNAP Benefit Changes
On September 11 and 17, the food pantry welcomed Personal Navigators Wendy and Angela from the Visiting Nurses Association (VNA), who hosted an informational table at our Food Pantry to assist clients with questions about recent changes to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).
Wendy emphasized the importance of staying informed, noting that as of September 1, new requirements have taken effect for individuals seeking SNAP benefits. When asked about the changes to SNAP and coming to the food pantry, Personal Navigator Wendy stated: “It’s really important to be aware of these changes, so it’s a great opportunity to come to the pantry and help any community members with questions and to clarify any confusion. We’re trying to help people keep their benefits.”
The VNA’s Personal Navigator Program is designed to help individuals reduce expenses and connect with vital resources like SNAP. Clients seeking guidance or counseling are encouraged to reach out directly. The brochure provided at the pantry includes a contact number: 1-800-591-8234 for registration and support.
This initiative reflects a continued commitment to ensuring community members have access to the assistance they need.
