Thank You Madeline!

A local 13-year-old girl and her family have helped Inter-Faith to realize a long-deferred dream: obtaining an AED, or Automatic Electronic Defibrillator device, for Hope Gardens.

Madeline Jamieson of Congregation Kol Ami chose to do a charitable project in honor of her Bat Mitzvah and approached Inter-Faith to inquire what might be needed. Madeline and her family were very excited about the idea of fundraising for an AED device, and although the devices and the requisite training are quite expensive, she quickly raised enough money to allow us to purchase both an easy-to-use AED device and a training program for staff to learn how to use it. The device permits use for both adults and children, and has a special wall cabinet and a travel bag.

“We are so grateful for the commitment and generosity of Madeline and her family,” said office manager Deborah Carver. “It can be stressful when a family is experiencing a housing crisis, and we are glad to have an AED just in case of a cardiac health emergency.”
