24 Feb Living the Family Promise Mission
Nancy’s dedication to the mission of Family Promise is evident in everything she does. She consistently goes above and beyond for the families served by Family Promise, not only as the Congregation Beth Or Interfaith Hospitality Network (IHN) coordinator but throughout the entire year. Whenever additional support is needed, Nancy is among the first volunteers to step forward, offering her time, energy, and thoughtful ideas to strengthen the program. She skillfully manages the many details involved while also providing hands‑on support, from taking families grocery shopping when transportation is a barrier to helping them locate essential items, such as furniture, as they transition out of the program. Her reliability, initiative, and compassion make a lasting difference for both families and staff.
As Beth Or Rabbi Jason Bonder notes, Jewish tradition teaches that we are all created “B’tzelem Elohim,” meaning “in the image of God.” Nancy lives out this teaching by recognizing the divine spark within those in need of support and nurturing the light within those who are able to give their time and resources. For nearly two decades, Nancy has shined a light on the needs in our community and reminded us that we are called by our values and tradition to help others. Family Promise and Beth Or are incredibly fortunate to have Nancy and appreciate her impact on our community.
