Families at our Norristown day center who wanted to enjoy the outdoors once had to walk 10–15 minutes to Cherry Street Park to find a playground or picnic tables. Although the day center had a backyard, it wasn’t a space families could fully enjoy. Thanks to the generosity of our long-time support congregation, Wayne Church, that’s changed!

Wayne Church funded the backyard transformation and organized a Mission Day, bringing volunteers to assemble play equipment and outdoor furnishings while cleaning and revitalizing the space. The result is a colorful, welcoming backyard where families can share meals, children can play and enjoy fresh air just outside the day center.

“We are deeply grateful for our many years of partnership with Wayne Church and for their continued generosity and commitment to our mission,” shared Amy, our Community Volunteer Coordinator.” This new backyard gives families a safe, inviting place to relax and play while they work toward stable housing.
