Why are you combining your organizations?

The main benefit of formalizing the partnership between Family Promise of the Main Line and Family Promise Montco PA is that it broadens and strengthens the reach of programs and services for families in Montgomery County facing housing and food insecurity. This expansion helps families secure permanent housing, access nutritious food, and achieve stability and self-sufficiency.

Since March 2024, Montco and Main Line have partnered in areas including technology, fiscal management, communication, and organizational leadership. After reviewing the successes of this management agreement and recognizing that both organizations offer complementary programs and services, the collective Board of Directors believe in a strong future for a permanent partnership.

Were the two organizations already working together?

Yes. Main Line and Montco, both affiliates of Family Promise National, have supported and worked alongside each other for more than 20 years to serve Montgomery County. The official approval from the Pennsylvania Orphan’s Court created one legal entity.

Who is Family Promise of the Main Line and how will this change things?

Family Promise Montco PA and Family Promise of the Main Line share a similar mission, so we do not anticipate major changes in services. The combining of organizations will streamline systems and share resources to provide safe and stable housing, food, and support self-sufficiency to create positive change.

What will the mission be? Will it change?

Both organizations have a long-standing shared mission to support families experiencing homelessness in Montgomery County, which will continue as one unified organization.

What is the name of the newly formed organization?

The legal name of the combined organization is Family Promise Montco PA. Day-to-day services remain the same, and programs are provided across the 39 townships in Montgomery County. Board members from Main Line and Montco have joined to form one Board of Directors.

Will people keep their jobs? Will there be layoffs?

All the same day-to-day services have been continued. There are no plans for staff layoffs at this time when the need for access to affordable housing and food remains high.

What changes are coming and when?

This continues to be a thoughtful transition, carefully assessing the best way to coordinate service delivery and maximize each organization’s strengths. We plan to continue our current activities and see opportunities for growth in prevention, stabilization, and diversion services.

Will there be shelter or transitional housing closings?

No. We are committed to supporting as many people in emergency shelter and transitional housing as possible. We will continue to seek opportunities for prevention, stabilization, and diversion initiatives before families face homelessness.

How does this help families?

Montco and Main Line have managed two of the only four emergency shelter programs for families in Montgomery County. This strong and resilient partnership will ensure that these shelters remain open, providing critical housing and support in an ever-changing world.

Why should I donate?

Families experiencing homelessness continue to need our services, especially now as resources for low-income families dwindle. Our combined mission, goals, needs, and resources remain unchanged. Your support is crucial to ensuring our mission-driven work remains effective for those most in need.
