When the COVID-19 crisis hit, we knew that our golf tournament could not go on as planned. But proceeds of the tournament make up an important part of Inter-Faith’s yearly budget, and we needed to figure out a way to fill in the gap. So our golf committee did some brainstorming, and the “No Golf” Challenge was conceived.
We challenged our donors to raise $18,000, which was matched by the event sponsors, who were incredibly generous and encouraging as we tried to determine how to go forward.
For each $25 donated, participants received one entry in the Drone Golf Ball Drop, where a drone dropped numbered balls over a hole at PineCrest and the balls closest to the hole won prizes. (You can watch video of the drop below!)
The amazing support we received, from sponsors, golfers, and many people who were new to the event, meant that we more than matched our sponsors to raise a total of $37,435!
We are so grateful to everyone who contributed, and to our sponsors listed below. And the event would not have been possible without the support and creativity of our golf committee: Rick Rodes, Chair, Lei Barry, Erin Cohen, Gene Davidov, Bob Walters, and Tom Wynn.
We plan to see you on the course again next year…with a tentative date of May 24, 2021. Stay tuned for more details!
