Remember the Why

 *{{First Name}}* ,

At Family Promise, every meal shared, every night of safe shelter, and every moment of compassionate support begins with one guiding belief: every family deserves stability, dignity, and hope. In the rush of daily tasks and urgent needs, it is easy to get caught up in the “what” and the “how.” But when we pause and reconnect with our why, we remember what truly matters. Children should not have to wonder where they will sleep, and parents should never have to face homelessness alone.

Keeping that purpose at the center of our work strengthens our mission and deepens our impact. Thanks to the generosity of more than 450 donors who supported our Winter Appeal, these gifts will fund essential services for families working hard to rebuild their lives. Every donation, every act of kindness, and every show of support makes a meaningful difference. Your support ensures safe shelter, access to food, case management, and the tools families need to move from crisis to lasting stability.

There is still work to do; the need in our community remains great:

  • 1 in 2 renters in Montgomery County struggles with housing costs, spending more than 30 percent of their income on rent.

  • Eviction rates in Bucks and Montgomery Counties are higher than the statewide average in Pennsylvania.

Your compassion and generosity help families navigate these challenges and give them hope. Thank you for remembering the “why” with us and investing in the future of families across our community.

In gratitude,

Marsha Eichelberger

Our Food Lockers Expand Access in Year One

When Family Promise Montco opened our temperature‑controlled food lockers in February 2025, we hoped they would fill an important gap for neighbors facing scheduling barriers, mobility challenges, or uncertainty of not knowing about when they could get to our Food Pantry. One year later, these lockers have become far more than a convenience. They are now a reliable source of nourishment, dignity, and peace of mind for families across our community.

A Snapshot of Year One
In their first 12 months, the food lockers, powered by the OrderAhead, experienced meaningful use:

  • 259 total locker orders
  • 115 unique individuals served
  • A majority of locker users were new clients, many accessing Food Pantry services for the first time.

While the data shows growth, personal stories like the one below show the true impact.

"I have used the food lockers about 15 times since they opened, and they have become essential for my two elderly sisters. Every two weeks, I pick up groceries for both of them because they cannot get to the Pantry on their own. Ordering is easy, and being able to pick up food when my schedule allows makes a big difference. The food they receive helps keep their kitchen stocked, especially items like meat, pasta, and frozen vegetables. The eggs and toilet paper mean the most because those are the basics they often go without. Knowing my sisters will not go hungry brings me real comfort and reminds me that Family Promise truly cares."

Looking Ahead

As we move into our second year, we invite the community to continue supporting Family Promise by clicking on the donate button below. The food lockers help families stretch their budgets by freeing up money for rent, utilities, and children’s expenses while still ensuring they have access to food. Thank you.

A Journey of Strength and New Beginnings

A parent currently living in our Interfaith Hospitality Network with her two children was recently highlighted in her employer’s newsletter as a “Teacher Spotlight” and was later named Employee of the Month. When she arrived at Family Promise, she was starting over and quickly secured a job at a local childcare center the very next day. Over the past five months, she has worked closely with our case management team, building stability, and accessing benefits while her children settled into school. Volunteers help her stay on track by saving meals when she works late and creating a welcoming space for her children, who love drawing and have begun to make new friends. She hopes to advance her career in early childhood education and is excited about moving out of the emergency shelter into her own apartment.  With support and her own determination, she is building confidence, savings, and self-sufficiency for her family.

Creating Care Through Cakes and Kindness

Congratulations Sarah! A volunteer from Main Line Unitarian Church, she has been awarded the Gold Level Presidential Volunteer Service Award, a national honor recognizing exceptional commitment to community service. We are thrilled to celebrate with Sarah, who earned this award through her youth‑led initiative supporting children’s mental health with baking and community care. Her work began at age 10, when she started baking birthday cakes for children in the Family Promise emergency shelter program. Since then, her project, Baking a Difference for Kids, has grown into a regional effort. Last year, she co‑launched the You Matter Birthday Bags initiative, distributing 325 birthday cake kits to food pantries across the region. “Something as simple as a birthday cake can make a child feel like they matter,” Sarah shared. Our CEO, Marsha, was honored to present her with this award in recognition of her compassion, creativity, and lasting impact on local children. Thank you, Sarah, for sharing your gifts with Family Promise.

A Bright New Look

Our Food Pantry entryway looks bright and refreshed thanks to a volunteer group from the Toll Brothers Fort Washington office. The team spent the morning painting the hallway and giving the space a much-needed update. They also helped reorganize several pantry shelves, making the area cleaner and more functional. The volunteers were engaged from the moment they arrived, asking thoughtful questions about the Pantry and the tasks planned for their day. Their efforts made a meaningful difference and helped create a more welcoming space for our community. Thanks for the great teamwork!

Advocacy Day Ahead

Family Promise team members attended the 2026 Winter Legislative Breakfast, sponsored by the Bucks-Mont Collaborative. They joined community partners, service providers, and local legislators to discuss key challenges facing families in Bucks and Montgomery Counties, including housing instability and food insecurity. Our team helped highlight the experiences of the families we serve and reinforced the importance of strong community partnerships. Legislators also shared their priorities for the upcoming state session and emphasized the value of working with organizations like Family Promise to advance effective policy solutions.

Join us for Advocacy Day on June 2 in Harrisburg, where community members and partners will meet with state leaders to advocate for housing and mental health resources. Registration and transportation details will be available soon on the Bucks-Mont Collaborative website.
