Turning a Promise Into Action |
Stronger Together isn’t just a phrase—it’s a vision. It's a belief that when we stand united as one Family Promise Montco, we can turn promise into action for the most vulnerable to build a better future.
For years, Family Promise has provided shelter, support, and hope to hundreds of families. But today, many of the safety net programs our families rely on are facing significant funding cuts.
What’s Happening?
Vital programs like Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and Medicaid are experiencing funding reductions. Food pantries, including ours, are seeing an increase in demand while resources like The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) are being scaled back. Cuts to federal nutrition programs also mean fewer fresh, local foods for schools, and food pantries. The Impact of New Legislation
Recent changes at the federal level are expected to affect thousands of Pennsylvanians. According to state estimates 3,000 Pennsylvanians could lose Medicaid and 140,000 could lose food assistance. Local agencies like Family Promise will be asked to do more with less.
Why It Matter
These aren’t just numbers—they are our neighbors, our community. They are children who rely on school meals, parents balancing multiple jobs to stay afloat, and neighbors turning to local organizations for help during this crisis. These cuts will directly affect our ability to help families stay housed, fed, and healthy. What You Can Do In this moment, there is power: the power of what we can achieve when we come together with purpose and compassion to take action. Join us by taking the action steps below.

Today, we're proud to share the inspiring story of K. and her young son, R.
After spending 90 days in our Interfaith Hospitality Network (IHN) Emergency Shelter, K. and R. successfully transitioned into permanent housing—a major milestone in their journey. During their time in the program, K. worked closely with her case manager to build a strong foundation for her family’s future. She secured Child Care Information Services (CCIS), enrolled R. in a local daycare, found employment, increased her county benefits, accessed mental health support, and ultimately achieved stable housing.
K.’s determination, paired with the compassionate support of our staff and volunteers, led to a powerful transformation. Her story is a testament to what’s possible when resilience meets opportunity. Congratulations, K. We celebrate your strength and wish you and R. all the best in this exciting new chapter. |

By joining forces as one unified Family Promise team, we’ve already experienced our ability to respond more quickly, support more families, and create meaningful, lasting changes in our community. Through a powerful partnership, we’ve expanded our reach and deepened our impact—especially through the 2025 Diversion, Stabilization, and Prevention Program.
So far this year, we've supported 19 families and 49 children—a total of 70 individuals served. These figures reflect those who received direct financial assistance, but the impact goes far beyond the numbers. Nearly everyone who reached out also received additional resources and light case management, even if financial aid wasn’t available.
One story that highlights this impact is that of C., a single father of two young boys. C. lost his job and found it difficult to keep up with rent. In looking for resources to avoid eviction, he found Family Promise. With our support and the security of a new job, C. and his sons are now able to remain in their stable home and look ahead with hope. This is the power of partnership. |
