Help Us Keep Our Shelves Stocked and Our Neighbors Fed |
Dear Friends, The need is growing—and the resources are shrinking.
The delay in Pennsylvania’s state budget approval has disrupted critical funding streams that support food distribution—lifelines for the Family Promise Food Pantry. These funds are essential to keeping our shelves stocked and offering families the dignity of choice. Without them, our ability to order food has been significantly impacted, resulting in a steep decline in the availability of essential groceries like milk, eggs, fresh produce, frozen meals, and pantry staples such as soup, canned meats, and breakfast items.
Just six months ago, our food pantry could order from a robust three-page inventory. Today, that list has been reduced to just two items.
Despite these challenges, Family Promise continues to serve more families than ever before: |
These numbers reflect more than statistics, they represent real families, children, and seniors who rely on us for their next meal.
How You Can Help We need YOU—and the strength of our community—to rise to this moment. Family Promise is committed to being part of the solution, but we can't do it alone.
Please consider taking action in one of these ways: -

Together we uplift our homeless families. |
|
|
As summer winds down, anticipation builds for one of the most meaningful nights of the year—our annual Hope for Homes fundraiser on Tuesday, September 16, 6p – 8pm, at the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, Bryn Mawr.
This cherished event brings our community together to uplift families in crisis, raising essential funds for emergency shelter and programs that empower long-term self-sufficiency.
Your support is more than a donation—it’s a lifeline. Every contribution helps provide safety, stability, and hope to children and families facing homelessness and hunger. Together, we can transform lives—one family, one home, one act of kindness at a time. |

More than Shelter: A Volunteer's Reflection |
|
|
Volunteers in the Interfaith Hospitality Network play a vital role in fostering environments where kindness, connection, and compassion flourish. At Gwynedd Friends Meeting, that spirit was especially evident as three families were warmly welcomed through the Family Promise emergency shelter program. For H., a dedicated volunteer and member of Gwynedd Friends, the experience was profoundly moving. She found the act of hosting to be filled with heartfelt care and genuine connection, leaving a deep impression on her.
Reflecting on her time with the families, H. shared, “I’ve never felt anything so beautiful. Being there in person was completely different—it brought me to tears.” Her gratitude for the opportunity to connect was tangible as she added, “I’m thankful to be part of such a caring community. I feel sadness for their struggles but also hope for their future.” H.’s reflections serve as a powerful reminder that Family Promise is more than just a shelter—it’s a bridge of compassion, a source of hope, and a testament to the strength of community. Through the eyes of volunteers like H., we see how small acts of presence and empathy can leave a lasting impact.

Celebrating a Milestone in a Time of Housing Crisis |
|
|
Today, we celebrate a meaningful milestone: families in our Interfaith Hospitality Network are continuing to transition into safe, stable, and permanent housing. Their journeys reflect incredible resilience, determination, and the transformative power of community support.
After 16 weeks in shelter, A. and her two children moved into permanent housing. During her stay, A. secured employment, built up her savings, and paid down debt—laying a strong financial foundation to manage housing independently and pursue long-term stability. We’re grateful to have supported her journey and for the Family Promise community support that makes these transformations possible.

Supporting Our Families Getting Ready to Go Back to School |
Our Family Promise team is proud to collaborate across all of our programs to ensure families have the resources they need for a successful school year. Thanks to the incredible generosity of TruMark Financial and Aramark, in partnership with Building Impact, we received a wide array of essential school supplies—from pens and rulers to scissors, folders, and notebooks. We’re also deeply grateful to Flourtown Presbyterian Church and Main Line Unitarian Church for their thoughtful donations of backpacks in every shape, size, and color, along with additional supplies to ensure students are fully prepared.
These contributions are making a meaningful impact, helping children from daycare through high school start the academic year equipped and confident. From our youngest learners to high school seniors, students are now ready to thrive, thanks to the support of our community partners. This is the power of partnership—coming together to ensure every child has what they need to succeed. Thank you! |

What it means to be stronger together. |
|
|
This summer, we were grateful to receive outstanding support from two of our community partners. A team of six enthusiastic volunteers from dlivrd joined us to assist with pantry distribution and essential operations. Their energy, teamwork, and dedication helped keep everything running smoothly, and we’re deeply appreciative of the time and effort they contributed.
We also received a generous donation from Abington First Responders: approximately 1,975 pounds of groceries and household items, along with $500 in Giant gift cards. Their contribution has made a lasting impact—our shelves remain full, and our neighbors continue to benefit from their kindness. These acts of generosity remind us that when a community comes together, powerful things happen. Every donation, every hour volunteered, and every kind word truly makes a difference. |
